Two days after being plunked in the head by a pitch against Team China, Matt LaPorta is back with Team USA and should find his way into the lineup for the semi-finals grugde match against Team Cuba.
LaPorta had no harsh words for Team China after recovering from his concussion, rather, he extended well wishes to China’s standout catcher and Seattle Mariners prospect Wang Wei after injuring him in a collision at the plate
“I feel terrible,” LaPorta said. “It’s such a sad thing. It’s the Olympics and you’re out there to win, but you don’t want to see anybody get hurt.”
LaPorta is a class act and it is great to see him on his feet and upbeat again.
