Jose Reyes was easily today’s best MLB performer with two HR and 6 RBI’s as the Mets shut out the Marlins 9-0, but today’s top prospect performance came from my man Nolan Reimold who went 2-2 with a HR 4 RBI and a walk.

So if Reimold has a huge Spring Training and he makes the opening day roster, do I sell on his stuff while he’s hot?…or wait longer into the season?
I heard that Tommy Hanson had SICK stuff yesterday.
Ahhh…that’s the rub. This is where projecting a solid sell price comes in handy. The temptation that we have as prospectors is to get greedy by trying to milk every last ounce of profit out of a transaction.
If Reimold’s stuff experiences a significant jump in demand and market value due to hot spring training numbers, I would strongly consider selling. He is going to have a difficult time nudging out established major leaguers for significant AB’s early this season. I posted a reponse to an earlier comment about Reimold that I thought he could possibly earn a platoon role in LF, but it looks like Ty Wigginton may be the RH option in that spot. That would send Reimold to Norfolk for the majority of the season until either injuries or roster expansion gives him his first MLB opportunity.
Let’s be honest, this guy’s bat has been major league ready for a year now. At 25 years old, he is assuredly someone who should be able to produce right away for the O’s without too many growing pains.
Watch the market for his stuff. If it takes a precipitous jump, float your stuff out there at a “Buy it Now” price and see what happens. Once he gets sent to Norfolk, check the market and see if there are any bargains. He will be back with the O’s at some point in ’09 to audition for a full time role in 2010.
