5/12 Low-A Minor League Report

Yesterday was a good day for young struggling prospects Marlins catcher Kyle Skipworth and Mariners 3B prospect Mario Martinez. Each of them had two hit days that inlcuded their second HR’s of the season. Blue Jays OF prospect Johermyn Chavez blasted his 7th dinger as did Washington Nationals catcher Derek Norris. Phillies OF prospect and Baltimore Orioles 1B Joe Mahoney hit their first dingers and each continued their basestealing ways as Mahoney added his 11th and Gose his 20th and 21st.
Once again we look to the Oakland A’s farm system to find our top player as Jesse Barfield’s son Jeremy was at it again, this time blasting 3 HR and 7 RBI while scoring 4 times as well. Barfield is now 7-9 in his last two games with 4 HR 9 RBI and 8 runs scored. At 6-5 and 240 lb. plus the bloodlines of a highly successful MLB slugger and hitting coach, one has to be very intrigued with the potential that this 20 year old emits.
