I could get used to this radio gig

I just completed an interview segment with Mike Schopp of WGR 550 AM in Buffalo for his Saturday morning show “The Hobby“.  We discussed some of the rookies to watch this season, most notably Matt Wieters and David Price, as well as the #1 hottest baseball player in the hobby Stephen Strasburg.

There was so much more that I would love to talk about on the show and, if you listen, I am sure that you will notice that I sound like a giddy school girl.  Give me the chance and I would blab about baseball prospects and prospecting philosophies all day.

Opening day is just 3 days away and how can any red-blooded baseball enthusiast not be excited about that?

Thank you to Mike Schopp for giving me a chance to talk some baseball on your show once again.  Those of you PPR readers that have not had a chance to check out “The Hobby“, check out their comprehensive archives that date back to their inaugural show on 10/4/08.

I just got an email from my friend Mike Schopp, host of sports card collecting show “The Hobby“.  This week’s show will feature Joe Orlando Editor in Chief of PSA’s Sports Market Report and head buyer Reed Kasaoka from Dave and Adam’s Card World to break down some vintage sets.

This show airs Saturday Mornings at 8 AM EST on WGR’s 550 AM in Buffalo.  The show has live streaming audio from its website and also archives past shows.  Check it out!  Our hobby’s integration into the mainstream media is a good thing.

If you have ideas or requests for show content, contact Mike Schopp at thehobby@wgr550.com.

WGR 550 AM Saturday 8-11 AM EST

Well, it’s about time that we had a talk show that transcends the normal daily banter of sports and delves into the sports card and memorabilia market.

Mike Schopp of WGR 550 AM in Buffalo and co-host of “Mike and The Bulldog Show” is beginning a new Saturday morning show called “The Hobby” The show will feature an array of experts and enthusiasts within the industry shedding more light on a variety of topics relative to the sports card and memorabilia market.

The show is slated to be on from 8 AM to 11 AM EST on Saturdays and is available for podcasts or listening online.  It will also have online archives available for downloads.  “The Hobby” has its maiden voyage set for this Saturday September 6th.

Schopp is, himself, a collector and his newfound passion for the hobby is compelling.  I had the distinct honor or taping a brief show segment with him talking about baseball prospects and the nuances of the online marketplace.  While my interview skills are as raw as an 18 year old pitcher in AA, I am humbled and grateful to have the opportunity to share some opinions on the show.

I, for one, think ”The Hobby” has the potential to be a big hit not only in the Buffalo area, but on the national scene as well.   Our beloved hobby can definitely use a shot in the arm connecting with various media outlets in an effort to attract new collectors to this exciting hobby and market.

Show your support for the show by listening in.  Mike is also very accessible via email Schopp@wgr550.com and is open to listening to various ideas for show topics and discussions.
